What is PMI?
Positive Material Identification (PMI)

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is where the product itself is tested to determine the type of alloy present. PMI does away with the need to use a paper trail involving mill certificates.
Sampling Services use an XRF analyser for PMI Testing.
XRF testing is fast, safe, non-destructive and non-marking.
Our XRF Analyser is available for On site Testing and for Drop In Testing.
We can provide documentation to standard BS EN 10204 part 3.1b.

Huge library of alloys
The XRF analyser used by Sampling Services has a huge library of alloys. The readings obtained by the analyser are compared to the library. The library includes:
- Stainless steel alloys
- Aluminium alloys
- Titanium Alloys
- Gold & precious metal alloys
- Nickel alloys
- Copper alloys
- Low alloy steels
- Nickel alloys

- Cobalt alloys

Drop In PMI Testing

" You bring your product to our premises in Coleshill. We carry out the tests you require and issue you the relevant certificate."
